Within the ATC all outward bound activities come under the heading of "Adventure Training" and these can range from building rope bridges or carrying out local field training exercises to mountaineering or Nordic skiing.
The Air Cadet Organisation runs two full time adventure centres; one at Llanbedr, between Barmouth and Harlech in North Wales and the other in Windermere in England's Lake District. Both are staffed by a full time instructor and are fully equipped with all of the safety equipment and other kit needed to take advantage of their position in the midst of excellent mountainous and wild country.

- Caving
- Hill Walking
- Camping
- Skiing
- Canoeing
- Kayaking
- Orienteering
Most squadrons have their own programmes which may include weekends away at local training areas and mountaineering trips in wild country areas of the UK and abroad. Squadron training programmes include instruction in map reading, navigation,
camp craft, first aid, safety in mountains and the country code, so all cadets are well
prepared. The training cadets receive in the squadron, together with staff training at the Joint Services Adventurous Training Instructor School and our own centres
at Llanbedr and Windermere, ensures that all activities are well planned and carried out safely.
