Gliding With the ATC
635 Volunteer Gliding School (VGS) Based at Samlesbury near Preston have a squadron of Grob G115 Motor Gliders. These versatile machines have a cruise speed of up to 100Kts (110 Mph) and retain incredible gliding performance once the engine is stopped. During an experience flight in one of these aircraft, cadets will have the chance to take the controls and to learn about flight with and without power.   Air Force Vigilant G109!

Grob Venture   Despite advances in power gliders, there is no experience quite like taking to the skies in a winch launched glider. A flight in a Grob Viking Glider begins by attaching a stell cable to the glider. Once the command is given to "take up the slack" the cable will tighten until "all out" and the glider will be launched approximately 1000 ft into the air.

Once airborne you will search for thermals and other lift to keep you in the air before returning for another trip!
